hello MARCH
March, you have been fun, productive, inspiring and gone by oh so quickly! So much so I’m late with the little update I had started writing about you! Please forgive me…?
As you can probably gather, and I’m sure many of you will agree, the time here is flying by! Maybe it’s because it’s part of adulating, maybe it’s because we fill our days with all kinds of things (exciting or not) .. and maybe, for me and The Beard in particular, it’s because we get married in just two months! YIKES!
With all that in mind (I know you’re all busy bees too!) I’ll keep this update short and sweet because rather than skip it completely, I’d like to take a little time to remember some of my favourite things from March…
hello FRI-YAY!
By now you’re probably aware of how BIG a Lucky Dip Club fan I am - from the monthly socks I am always thrilled with to the amazing community and support of the people I’ve met because of joining, not to mention being continuously inspired by Leona and her tenacious community and business building spirit!
So you can imagine my pant-wettingly, excited face when Leona asked me to create something for the weekly Fri-Yay surprises. As well as fan girling about it all, it was also a fun opportunity to try out a new product idea I’d been toying with for a few months - collar clip pin sets!
After brainstorming a few ideas and chatting to Leona, the final design was chosen and I was SO HAPPY with how it came out. A perfect little representation of both businesses (Sunshine for me, Rainbows for LDC) and a new accessory that can be worn in different ways, from collar clips to individual pins.
I think our customers LOVED them too, not only did Leona sell out of them on the morning of the launch but the extra ones I made to sell afterwards also sold out the day I listed them in my shop! YAY FOR SUNSHINE & RAINBOWS!
hello PHOTOSHOOT
March also meant I got to spend a day with my FAVOURITE photographer and her fuzzy crew. I always love going to see Holly and Remi and Juno always make me feel so welcome and loved too…
This time I also got to meet the newest member of the Holly Booth Photography team, gorgeous little, full of beans, Margot! I mean LOOK AT THAT FACE!
As well as catching up, petting all the animals and drinking lots of tea we also had A LOT of fun playing with some of my new products and all the props (I always take so much crap to Holly’s house - sorry Holly!) to create some fun new imagery.
It goes without saying that I am OVER THE MOON with how the styled shots have come out and cannot wait to see what Cat at Twin Pines Creative does with them for my new wholesale catalogue we’re working on.
I’m also VERY excited bout getting them on the website and new products in the shop this Summer (after all the wedding stuff has calmed down that is!) Expect lots of yellow, a pop of new colours, all the cats and some fun portrait shots too! *dances with excitement*
hello CUSTOM KITTIES
Something else I want to mention, as it’s been such a fun, enjoyable and possibly my favourite ever product to make, are the Custom Kitty lapel pins! I’ve taken the odd request for customer painted cufflinks and necklaces before but never really shared them as I forgot to take photos! D’OH! After a couple of pin requests this year though, which I LOVED painting SO MUCH, I decided to get some photos of them as I made them and well… you guys LOVED THEM TOO and I ended up painting so many GORGEOUS fur babies!
I can’t thank everyone enough and although I’m sad about closing orders for them for a couple of months, I’m VERY EXCITED about listing them again in July and keeping all my bits crossed for even more photos of everyone’s cats to paint! I may also have some new face shapes in the pipeline and REALLY want to offer doggo too! Leading me nicely onto my final fave from March…
hello ISLE OF DOGS
At the end of March I managed to get preview tickets to a screening of Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs. Now I’m a MASSIVE Wes fan as it is, Fantastic Mr Fox is one of MY FAVOURITE films ever and when I finally saw the film my heart was filled with so much happy I pretty much cried when I left the cinema - I know I’m a loser!
Anywho, I found out that there was an exhibition opening a couple of days after I’d seen the preview so I had a word with the boss (myself) and took myself off on a mini adventure to London to see it.
Well, my heart could have exploded with happiness all over again wandering around the exhibition. It was incredible in so many ways and I didn’t stop grinning all the while I was there! The sets and models were perfect, the music playing, the fact I was first in line and it was so quiet, I was in my element wandering around and got some wonderful photos…
I also took myself for a super tasty lunch at On The Bab followed by a cheeky Matcha ice cream from Milk Train! It was a perfect day out and I returned in plenty of time to get some work done too so the boss was a very happy bean!
thanks MARCH!
There you have it, a little whistle stop, diary entry for March on the blog. TICK. I hope you enjoyed the read.. lets see if I can get a mini April one up before the month passes by again!
