HOLY SH*TBALLS

It’s August tomorrow?! 🤯

Yep, you read that right. It’s August. Tomorrow. Already. And honestly? I’m not sure how that happened either. But here we are – teetering on the edge of festival season, on the brink of portrait chaos, and just a few short working weeks away from my annual Big Ol’ Break™ (where I vanish for a bit and pretend to be a Christmas elf 🎄)

So I thought I’d better fill you in on what the hell is happening in Hello Sunshine land over the next month, especially if you’ve had your eye on a portrait, want to catch me at a festival, or just fancy a little update from behind the yellow van.

TL;DR

(Too Lazy; Didn’t Read – I see you 😉)

  • 🛍️ My shop will close on 26th August for a bit of downtime before silly season kicks in

  • 🎨 Portrait books open TOMORROW (1st August) and will stay open until the 14th August

    - unless I overdo it and need a pre-emptive nap

  • 🎪 You can find me painting portraits at WOH Festival AND Shambala

    - in the Crafty Fox Market tent!

Festival Shenanigans & Face Painting Fun

If you’re lucky enough to be heading to WOH Festival or Shambala this year, come and find me in the Crafty Fox Market tent! I’ll be there with my paints, brushes, and big ol’ smile, ready to immortalise your glorious faces (or whatever bits of you you want to stick on paper - keep it PG, please) 😆

These events are always a highlight of my summer - a whirlwind of colour, creativity, connection and probably a bit of glitter in places it shouldn’t be.

Not Festivaling? Don’t Worry, Little Pickles

If festivals aren’t your thing (or your bank account is already crying), you can still get your face - or your favourite face/furry friend - immortalised in my signature sunny style. YAY!

My portrait books will open TOMORROW (1st August) and stay open until 14th August. But here’s the small print: if things get too hectic and my brain starts to sizzle, I might have to close them earlier. So if you’re keen, don’t hang about!

After that? The books will be closed for the rest of summer while I take a step back, reset, and quietly morph into a festive-making machine behind the scenes.

Why the Break?

Good question. Honestly? I’ve learnt (the hard way) that I need a proper break to protect the joy in what I do - and my sanity. Stepping away from the everyday, the orders, and the pressure of life is what helps me focus and essentially come back stronger, happier, and ready for the madness of the Christmas season!

I talked a bit about this in my slightly wanky seaside post a few weeks ago, but in short: I’m lucky. I can take a break, AND still work from anywhere with my laptop and sketchbook. It still makes me cringe a bit but I’m learning not to feel guilty about it and embrace it. It helps. A lot.

So that’s exactly what I’m doing - disappearing for a bit to regroup, breathe, and plan ahead. Rest assured there will be a hellvalot going on behind the scenes but all you may end up seeing is sickening scenery and food updates for a few weeks 😉 #SorryNotSorry.

Thank You for Being Here

OOFT. That was a big one (“that’s what she said”). But if you’ve made it this far - thank you 💛 Genuinely. I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your support, enthusiasm, and willingness to put up with my chaotic ramblings and creative curveballs!

So, whether you’re booking a portrait, ordering a treat for yourself, popping by at a festival, or just quietly cheering from the sidelines

- I appreciate you.

Now, time to shut up and usher you over to the shop 😜
