Tin Cup Travels

If we’ve been friends long enough (online or in person) you’ll know that I’m rarely seen on an adventure without my little yellow, enamel mug!

It was a birthday present about 5 years ago and one I’ve treasured ever since - not only is it the perfect yellow but I’ve always believed tea tastes better outdoors and from a tin cup so it tends to come everywhere with me.

I can’t say my tin cup has seen as much as it normally would outside of Cambridge this year but in September, against all odds, a mini holiday plan actually went ahead - YAY! And this yellow tin cup got to see a lot of lovely places so I thought I’d dedicate a wee blog post to it.

Anywho, I’ll keep it short on words and heavy on adventure snaps with the hope you enjoy seeing where my little tin cup has followed me…

Northumberland

In September The Beard and I were lucky enough to escape to Northumberland for a short break, we stayed in a gorgeous little AirBnB near Wooler and it was a wonderful base to explore the beaches and nearby towns from.

It was Rei’s first time away in holiday accommodation with us (other than the van!) so she was very excited too!

We stayed for 5 nights and packed plenty in with visits to Alnwick, Rothbury, Craster and Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh Castles as well as visiting beautiful beaches in the surrounding area.

It’s honestly one of my favourite coastlines and provides plenty of perfect opportunities for brews with incredible views! I’ll let the photos speak for themselves though…

Craster Harbour

It was far to windy and rainy to stop for a brew on our walk down the coast from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle. It was a treat to warm up in our cosy AirBnB with a brew afterward though!

As you can see, Northumberland is full of wonderful, wide open beaches and stunning coastlines, all perfect to explore when you’re equipped with a flask and tin cup. It was a great little trip and I’ll always love returning to this part of the country so I’m sure it won’t be last time my tin cup follows me there!

Edinburgh

After a lovely break away with The Beard and Rei, while they drove home, I continued my travels up to Scotland on the train for a little solo adventure to visit stockists and a friend. After a very short train ride from Alnmouth, I was in Edinburgh and ready to explore with my tin cup!

Edinburgh will forever be one of my favourite cities in the UK, mainly because you can wander around on foot, or drive a very short distance and be met with such breathtaking views!

Here are just a handful from my short, 3 day trip…

Yellowcraig Beach : North Berwick

Just a short drive to North Berwick, meant more beach brews too!

So, are you bored of seeing my little yellow mug (and my own cheesy mug) yet?

Hopefully these snaps have brightened your day or at least made you crave a cuppa, if not an outdoor adventure with your own tin cup. There are plans afoot for more adventures this month (October) but I won’t count my brews just yet, given the Coronacoaster we’re currently on!

Fingers crossed I’ll be back with more tin cup adventures in my future blog posts though and in the meantime, feel free to check out the hashtag #yellowtincuptravels on Instagram for more updates.
